These crystals are beautiful; prismatic hexagonal and rather translucent.
This is an evaporite mineral. It contains sodium and often forms in association with halite. Its is a sulphate but very unusually, it also contains carbonate ions. Some hanksite specimens are also fluorescent under both long and short wave UV. Sadly, we aren't able to check if these samples are fluorescent right now.
