A piece of the heavens to wear around your neck. Moldavite is a kind of tektite, a natural glass created during meteorite impacts. The force of the approaching meteorite fused silicates in the ground below into a silicate vapour which travelled into the earth's upper atmosphere before condensing and returning to the earth as glass droplets. Moldavia was formed during the reis crater impact event 14 million years ago. The impact crater is so large that a city lies within it.
