Tatahouine (Achondrite, Diogenite)

Location: Tatahouine, South Tunisia
Found: observed fall, June 27th 1931
Classification: Achondrite, Diogenite
Total weight of found samples: 12Kg

This is an achrondrite. It does not have chondrules and shows some signs of differentiation and partial remelting. Samples of this meteorite famously consist of large crystals of orthopyroxene. The meteorite is likely to have originated from the crust of Vesta.
