Fordite is ridiculously hard to come by. Several customers have asked for it (repeatedly) over the years and we have managed to find a limited source. It's first come, first served with these samples, though there is a little more on its way.
Fordite is sometimes also called "Detroit Agate". It is not a rock at all, but formed as by -product of industrial paint spraying. These samples were collected from a Detroit automobile factory and date from the 1970s. The samples have been cut and polished to bring out the layers and the vibrant colours. They are a bit of a tactile treat as well; glorious to hold in one's hand.
This is a photograph of the actual item which is offered for sale.
