Age: Oligocene (33 - 30 million years ago)
Location: North Dakota, USA

Oreodonts are a family of extinct ungulates which thrived in the North American Miocene/Oligocene grasslands. They were herbivores and are likely to have lived in herds or small social groups. Some oreodonts were burrowing animals and the burrows are frequently preserved.
