Reedops trilobite

Reedops Sp.

Age: Devonian (about 360 million years ago)

Location: L'agadad Limestones, near Djebel Issomour, Ant-Atlas, Morocco

One of our most popular entry level fossils. This is the preserved exoskeleton of a Devonian aged trilobite. The animal's eye lenses were integral to the exoskeleton and were renewed when the trilobite shed the exoskeleton during growth. This kind of trilobite had a compound eye, although none of these fossils is completely perfect, it is possible to see the detail of at least one of the copound eyes on each sample. Get out your mini microscope and inspect them up close and personal!
