Naturally occurring iron pyrite cubic crystal in matrix

Iron Pyrite crystal
Location: La Roija, Cantabrian Mountains, Spain.

This fantastic cube has not been cut or moulded. It just naturally grew this way! Mind blowing, huh!

The shape of a crystal is determined by its underlying atomic lattice structure. Early mineralogists generally correctly determined the lattice structures of minerals simply based on the geometries of their crystal forms. These samples are excellent visual references for home school lessons.

These cubes of iron pyrite (Fool's Gold) are still nestling in the rock they formed grew within. These crystals are small about 1x1x1cm. Larger samples are available on request.

All prices are per item. These photographs are representative of the item offered for sale, but you may not receive the sample in the picture.
