People often think of garnet as red, but garnet is actually a family of closely related minerals and has a wide range of colours. Melanite is a titanium rich variety of andarite (a type of garnet which contains calcium and iron). The titanium gives the mineral its classic back colour. These glorious clusters have formed distinctive dodecahedron shaped crystals.
