Lavender jadeite (Burma)

Lavender Jadeite. Hpakant, Myanmar/Burma.

Jade can be used to describe several different rocks. Technically it should only be a mineral called nephrite, or a mineral called jadeite.  Jadeite is usually the rarer and more valuable of the two. Jadeite from Burma is particularly sought  after.

Jade has long had a role in folk tradition.  It is generally associated with prosperity, longevity, good fortune and well being.
