Jadeite

Slightly confusingly jadeite can refer to two things. 

a. A sodium pyroxenite rock formed in blue schist from serpentinite by metasomatic processes during high grade metamorphism. This is one of the two forms of jade.

b. a mineral -- a sodium rich clino-pyroxene much loved by geology textbooks.
