Turquoise

Turquoise is a copper aluminium phosphate. It forms in regions which are rich in copper as a result of the movement of copper rich ground water. Turquoise is relatively rare. It is also very soft, the majority of commercial turquoise has been stabilised to prevent it from crumbling and make it easier to work.
