Schorl

Schorl / black tourmaline. Namibia

 

Tourmaline forms in metamorphic and igneous rocks. it is part of a family of minerals. Its colour varies enormously depending on the impurities present in its structure. Black tourmaline is one of the most common forms of tourmaline. It can be found all over the world including beaches in Cornwall.
